Association of Parents and Friends of Profoundly Disabled People

Silvestre Festas supported this association by mounting a structure where a lunch was held for athletes participating in the tournament Remo Sem Limites (Rowing without Limits) of the APADP (Association of Parents and Friends of Profoundly Disabled People) and IPSS (Private Institution of Social Solidarity).

The tournament promotes the sport among people with disabilities and their integration into society, teaching us as well that it is possible to overcome the smallest and biggest challenges of the day-to-day. This was the largest sporting event in terms of people with disabilities in the municipality of Sintra.
The organisation was founded on 7 May 1984 and initially registered by 22 parents. In the same year, the city of Lisbon ceded a basement in a social housing building in Chelas Zone J for support of profoundly disabled people at the weekend. Quickly the commitment of parents and the support of all led them to acquire a space in Cacém. Thereafter the APADP has been improving and increasing its facilities in order to provide the best possible support to people with profound disabilities.
Given it’s importance, Silvestre Festas has had and will always have an active role in such initiatives.
